Compress videos without uploading them
Shrink a video for WhatsApp, email or Discord. The whole job runs on your device with ffmpeg, so nothing ever leaves your browser.
Most online compressors upload your video to a server, process it there and let you download the result. TokDown does the opposite: the ffmpeg encoder is loaded as WebAssembly into your browser tab and the whole job runs on your own device. Your file never leaves your computer or phone, there is no queue, no size-based paywall and no watermark. The first run downloads the encoder once; after that it is cached.
The three presets map to the limits people actually hit. Small targets WhatsApp, Telegram and e-mail attachments by capping resolution at 720p with a higher compression ratio. Balanced keeps up to 1080p for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube uploads. Quality keeps the most detail for archiving or further editing. All presets output H.264 video with AAC audio in an MP4 container, which plays on every phone, browser and editing app.
