Facebook serves most public videos in two renditions, an HD file for fast connections and an SD file for mobile data. TokDown reads both from the same public embed Facebook uses for its own share buttons, which is why no login, cookie or browser extension is needed. You get the original MP4 as uploaded by the page, with the original aspect ratio and no added watermark or logo.
Reels, Watch episodes, videos posted on pages and public profile videos all work, including fb.watch short links and the long share URLs the mobile app produces. Videos inside closed groups, private profiles, stories and live broadcasts are not available to anyone who is not logged in, so they cannot be fetched here either. If a link fails, open it in a private browser window first: if Facebook asks you to log in, the video is not public.
